Deadline: January 31, 2005 Don't miss an exciting opportunity to host Eurasia's best and brightest students (undergraduate and graduate) on your campus! For over 12 years, the U.S. State Department has sponsored fellowships for the most talented undergraduate and graduate students from Eurasia through the Eurasian Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) and the Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program (Muskie). Each year nearly 350 students come from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. UGRAD offers undergraduate students one academic year of nondegree study in a US university or community college. UGRAD program fields are: * Accounting * Agriculture * American Studies * Business * Computer Science * Criminal Justice * Economics * Education * Environmental Management * Hospitality Management * International Relations * Journalism/Mass Communications * Law * Political Science * Psychology * Sociology The Muskie program offers graduate students and professionals one to two years of academic study at US universities, generally earning a Masters degree. This year four fellows will receive longer fellowships, pursue doctoral studies, and receive a PhD. Muskie program fields are: * Business Administration * Economics * Education * Environmental Management * International Affairs * Journalism/Mass Communications * Law * Library and Information Science * Public Administration * Public Health * Public Policy PhD fellowships will be granted only to citizens from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine in one of the following academic fields: business administration, economics, public administration, and public policy. Through the Muskie and UGRAD programs, IREX coordinates students' visas, provides generous financial support (travel, stipend, partial tuition, and books), provides insurance, staffs a 24-hour emergency hotline, and monitors and supports students' progress. HOST INSTITUTIONS Hosts guide students' studies and interaction with faculty and students within the university and local community. Host institutions are chosen based on a number of criteria, including the ability to meet students' academic and other needs, and a willingness to provide significant tuition cost-share.
