Deadline: January 31, 2005

Don't miss an exciting opportunity to host Eurasia's best and brightest
students (undergraduate and graduate) on your campus!

For over 12 years, the U.S. State Department has sponsored fellowships
for the most talented undergraduate and graduate students from Eurasia
through the Eurasian Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) and the
Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program (Muskie). Each year nearly
350 students come from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan,
Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

UGRAD offers undergraduate students one academic year of nondegree study
in a US university or community college. UGRAD program fields are:

* Accounting
* Agriculture
* American Studies
* Business
* Computer Science
* Criminal Justice
* Economics
* Education
* Environmental Management
* Hospitality Management
* International Relations
* Journalism/Mass Communications
* Law
* Political Science
* Psychology
* Sociology

The Muskie program offers graduate students and professionals one to two
years of academic study at US universities, generally earning a Masters
degree. This year four fellows will receive longer fellowships, pursue
doctoral studies, and receive a PhD. Muskie program fields are:

* Business Administration
* Economics
* Education
* Environmental Management
* International Affairs
* Journalism/Mass Communications
* Law
* Library and Information Science
* Public Administration
* Public Health
* Public Policy

PhD fellowships will be granted only to citizens from Georgia,
Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine in one of the following academic fields:
business administration, economics, public administration, and public
policy.

Through the Muskie and UGRAD programs, IREX coordinates students' visas,
provides generous financial support (travel, stipend, partial tuition,
and books), provides insurance, staffs a 24-hour emergency hotline, and
monitors and supports students' progress.

HOST INSTITUTIONS
Hosts guide students' studies and interaction with faculty and students
within the university and local community. Host institutions are chosen
based on a number of criteria, including the ability to meet students'
academic and other needs, and a willingness to provide significant
tuition cost-share.
