Hey guys. As far as I know a lot of you are interested in public activity of Ukrainian community abroad. I think this information can be useful for students studying in the USA and Europe. The Euro-Atlantic Forum of Ukrainian Students is a non-governmental organization that brings together Ukrainian youth studying in the United States. Established in December 2000, the Forum’s first initiative was sending an open letter to Ukraine’s President Leonid Kuchma, demanding his resignation. This letter was signed by 60 students in America and Europe, and released by Ukrainian media on December 27, 2000 (review the letter here). The President has yet to respond to this letter. Other public acts of the Forum include addresses to Ukraine’s students and businessmen urging the support of democratic forces during 2002 parliamentary elections. The Forum’s goals are: * to give students an opportunity to influence social life in Ukraine while studying abroad; * to maintain and encourage interest in political, economic, and cultural processes in Ukraine through discussion and exchange of information; * to maintain the network of students returning from studying abroad to Ukraine. The Forum has a mailing list for distribution of news, messages and discussions on Stanford University’s server. Students and interested Ukrainian youth in both America and Europe subscribe to this list. You may subscribe by sending an e-mail request to majordomo@list.stanford.edu with “subscribe Ukrainians” in the body of the message. www.nashadoba.org is the official Forum’s web-site |
