This message concerns internships that are available to native speakers of English. These internships are being organized by FSA Undergraduate Program alumna Irina Golenkova. Please forward this to any Americans (or other native English speakers) you know who might be interested. Please contact Irina at questions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Education Information Center "FreeDom" Omsk Western Siberia Russia www.freedomcity.info Two internship positions for the English native speakers announced. Omsk regional non-profit Education Information Center "FreeDom" (Omsk, Siberia, Russia) announces two internship positions for students from the following English speaking countries: - United States; - Canada; - Great Britain; - Australia. Internship position #1 (2 months) Internship description: An intern should have professional interest in one of the following areas: - Russian non-profit organizations; - Russian system of education; - Russia, Russian language and culture; - Teaching of English to non English speakers; - Management of student projects. The intern will experience the process of work of the Russian non-profit organization. Education Information Center "FreeDom" works in partnership with the non-profit Society of Free Travelers in Siberia and an intern will get an opportunity to observe the work of both non-profits located nearby. Possible activities during the internship: - Participation in the non-profit activities of the Center in the city of Omsk, such as lectures in his/ her native language at local high schools and universities; - Organization of seminars and workshops for students and teachers of the English language from regional schools; - Webpage development and online research; - Editing and proofreading of the English part of the Center’s newspaper; - Translating/ interpreting from Russian into English; - Consulting students about culture of the country of origin and different exchange programs to that country; - Implementation of his/ her own project during the internship in cooperation with students from the Omsk region. Required personal skills: - Leadership skills; - Creativity; - Responsibility; - Communicative skills; - Along with the goal to experience growth professionally, aspiration to foster the dialogue of cultures and civic society in developing countries. EIC FreeDom will provide with: - Free accommodation for an intern through the Russian host family program in Omsk; - Necessary arrangements for getting business visa to Russia for the internship period (incl. invitation letter). Internship position #2 (3 - 6 months) Intern program developed through cooperation with Society of Free Travelers in the Siberian region To open an opportunity for English speaking students to experience professional growth in Siberia in combination with tourism in this area, we are offering one internship position for an English speaker who wants to combine: - Teaching English as a second language; - Tourism in Siberia or Northern Kazakhstan (e.g. Altai mountains, Borovoye) Thus an intern should be highly motivated for teaching English as a second language and be interested in traveling in the region of Siberia or Northern Kazakhstan. Internship description: 1) Development of intensive (1 or 2 week) training sessions for non English speakers in one of the following language accents: - American English; - British English; - Australian English; - Canadian English. Level: intermediate Assistance: Internship mentor from EIC "FreeDom" will assist during all workshops; Advising: English language professors from the English departments. 2) Conducting developed English training sessions incorporated in tourism trips within Siberia and Northern Kazakhstan; 3) During non-travel time all activities described in the internship#2 are also possible. Required skills: - Leadership skills; - Organization and time management skills; - Responsibility; - Communicative skills; - Adaptability. Internship conditions: - Free accommodation in Omsk through the Russian host family program; - Necessary arrangements for getting business visa to Russia for the internship period (incl. invitation letter). EIC FreeDom will: - Cover all travel, food and accommodation expenses during all trips in Siberia and Northern Kazakhstan, during which an intern will conduct his/ her English training sessions; - Will provide an intern with a small stipend for every conducted English workshop to cover food expenses during the internship period. Submitting application: Application for both internships should contain: - CV; - Motivation letter (1 page) Please submit your applications to Irina Golenkova, internships coordinator to golenkova@freedomcity.info We will notify you about getting your application within the same day and will reply within 3 work days. NOTE! 1. Russian business visa: Arrangement of invitation letter to Russia for getting a business visa for Russia will take 2 weeks plus time to post the original invitation to an intern home address. So if you want to start your internship by the end of December – beginning of January, you are recommended to fax a copy of your passport to us as soon as you get an acceptance from our Center for your internship. 2. Kazakhstan tourist visa: For the internship#2 you are strongly recommended to get Kazakhstan tourist visa to be able to participate in trips to Kazakhstan and its resort places. |
