Improving you professional abilities is a process important during all stages of
your career. Whether your trying to find a new job or grow in your current job,
knowing how to improve your career is a valuable skill. Resume writing, job
interview preparation, mid-level professional training and salary negotiation are
all helpful skills to possess to develop you career. Join State Alumni for a
discussion of these and other topics.

There will be a new Q&A Live event on Thursday, September 16 from 8:30-9:30am
Washington, D.C. time offering Career Development Tips. The guest will be Mrs.
Soonhoon L. Ahn, cross-cultural career/HR consultant. You can go to

take place where you are.

Soonhoon Ahn is a cross-cultural Career/HR Consultant, who is active in career
transition training including performance management, career goal setting, resume
writing, job search strategy and global career/HR management.



She works as the contract career counselor for the Career Transition Center, U.S.
Dept. of State and the Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) of the Montgomery
County. She is also a career counselor at the Howard Community College Career Center
and teaches career planning courses with the Chubb Institute in Arlington, Virginia.



Previously, she had a career of 28 years with the World Bank and the Asian
Development Bank as Recruitment Officer and Personnel Officer. In her capacity as
Recruitment Officer, she made a recruitment seminar at the UN Conference on Women in
Beijing, China, in 1995. She also authored a chapter to the book, Strategic Job
Searching with International Organizations and UN Agencies, published in Korea in
1998.



In 2002, she received her MA in Career Counseling from the University of Maryland
College Park, where she counseled and coached student athletes and Asian MBA
students with their career planning and job search.



She is the founder and principal Career/HR Consultant, AHN Consulting based in
Potomac, Maryland. Clients she serviced include BB&T/Equitable Bank and the
Bethlehem Steels.

further your career.
