I have a valid f1 visa until dec 2002 from college x. I am planing to transfer to college y. I have to change my visa under the name of the new school? I'm planing to travel. Can i get back in the U.S.A. with the i-20 of the new school even if my visa was issued under the name of the old school? Thanks Yi0rgos |

You'll only need a new I-20 from the school you're planning on transferring to. The current visa in your passport is fine. An occasional official at a port-of-entry may not know what he's doing when he sees this, but in most cases this wouldn't cause any problems. (If asked, you may want to explain that you're transferring schools, but it shouldn't be a big deal.) |

Right, your old visa is OK.
If your new I-20 was already approved by the INS your student advisor has to sign it on the back before you travel. It shows the INS that the school has allowed you to travel. Also get your intl. student advisor's phone and fax # in case INS wants to contact her. |
