The J-1 is called the Exchange Visitor's visa and is granted to scholars participating in cultural or academic programs hosted by an supporting school or institution. This has recently become a popular visa for companies who want to sponsor workers on internships.
In order get a J-1 visa you'll need to be sponsored by a school, company or institution. They will give you an IAP-66 form with which you can use to get your visa. For more information on J visas, go to the US Information Agency website at http://travel.state.gov/visa;exchange.html for a detailed but boring description of the visa. Good luck. |
