Is there some regulation from INS that you can take a quarter off only after you have completed at least three quarters in the University? Do I need to get INS permission for that? |

I may be wrong but I don't think you can take any time off except for the regular vacations. |

You can't take off a quarter without special permission from INS.
Some more information. To be full-time, you have to take: - 12 semster hours, or - 9 quarter hours You don't have to take course on summer sessions. You are exempted from full course of study if one/more of the following is/are valid for you: - intial difficulties with English language or other reading materials (You may use it only for your first term). - unfamiliarity with American teaching methods (only for first term). - Need of less than full course of study to finish degree this term. (If you don't finish your degree by this term, however, you are out of status) - Completed course work, now doing thesis/dessertaion/research. - Decumented medical reason. So, you can see INS is very strict about maintaining full time load each term (semester or quarter). |
