Hi all,
I am currently a full time student in USA, i am planning to go to Canada for a few days, my visa entry had expired so i will need to get USA visa from Canada. Do you think it is harder to get US visa from a third country? I also heard that you do not need US entry visa to come back to USA if you stay in canada less than 5 days. (f-1 student, Valid I 20, in status) Do you guys know anything about it? Thanks for your time. |

As long as you are in status you can go to Canada or Mexico for up to 30 days even if your visa had expired. You need to get your I-20 signed on the back by your international student advisor ("authorize for travel" so to speak). And keep your advisor's contact information handy in case INS has questions.
While in Canada you could try to apply for a new visa if you think you'll need it later on. You'll need an appointment for this. See more on this here: https://www.nvars.com/use/wWelcome.jsp http://travel.state.gov/tcn.html |
