I've got F-1 visas and after 2 months, when I complete my studies, would like to stay longer and do not want to pay tution fee/attend school again. Can I ask for tourist visas B1 while in US? How can I prolong my stay there?
Thanks a lot |

You can try. It's permissiable to change from F1 to B/2. Just by applying (use the I-539 form) you'll get it will take anywhere from 120 to 260 days, depending on the service centers, before its approved or rejected. If it's rejected you have 45 days to leave the US. |

The B1 visa is a business visa. The B2 is the tourist visa. You want to go to the INS website and download the I-539 form. Follow the instructions. Make sure you say that you want the B-2 tourist visa.
Good luck, Brian |
