Hi, you all:
Anyone have any ideas what's hot right now? Going to school is our common method to stay and get a job here. So we really need to know which major is the easiest to get a job (except nurse). Can we get some personal advice here? |

Hard to say zaozaoz. Current economy is not growing at the rate it was two years ago. This slow growth resulted in many job cuts in Engineering fields.
My guess is civil engineers are doing better than IT-related people. This is purely based on my observation of people I know (definitely a very small sample size to make a proper hypothesis). My guess is same for mechanical/aerospace/chemical engineering. Not good. Another thing to remember is that things change here often. Things can change direction 180 degree from the time you enroll to one program to the time you graduate. As I am in CS, i can just tell about my area. I guess other students can give more input on other fields. Just a note, I find less participation of F-1 students in this room unless they are into some kind of problem. The site is for all students, specially F-1 students covering all fields related to them. Education, social life in USA, professional life, job hunting after graduation - this site can be the site for all these, not for how to get illegal SSN, how to work illegally, etc! |
