I have got I-20 from a college, but now someone said that they could get me work permit valid for 9 months. Can I have both of F-1 visa and work permit the same time? If I have work permit, will that be good to get H-1B soon? |

after enterning the u.s. as an f1 you have to wait 9 months before your eligible to apply for a work permit. after that, talk with your advisor about it.
you need to finish your degree and get a job before applying for an h1b. |

Careful. There is one type of work authorization available to students before the 9 month in status period-- such as working for an internationl organzation. The question is, what kind of work permit are you talking about? You need to be more specific. |
