I came to America on a J-1 to go to high school. I just received approval for a change of status to F-1. I'm now in college and part of my schooling involves training cruises outside the US. How can I get an F-1 visa so that I can re-enter the US when my training cruise is completed? (The cruise lasts for 60 days). i.e. I have F-1 status but not the F-1 visa.

You have a rather difficult situation, especially if your cruise ship never stops in a place where there's a US consulate nearby.
You should ask your international student advisor to do some research on this one. Your advisor is responsible for signing your travel documents, so they should be able to find out what to do in this rather unusual situation. If they recommend not leaving until you know you'll be going to a US consulate or embassy somewhere, that may be the best thing to do. Good luck with this. |
