It all depends on what your goals are. If you want to just study in the USA it's eazy and affordable. If you want to get a good education it's hard and very expensive. You should look for a compromise.
1. In any case you will have to pass a TOEFL English test. For more info see http://www.toefl.org, you can take the test it in your country. 2. Find a school. In our links>information section we list some sites that have schools listings and even online applications. If you plan to get a new BA in the US, usually you'll only need a good TOEFL score; if you want to go for graduate studies you'll also need to take GRE and MAT tests (or other tests for law or medical schools). http://www.ets.org for more info (http://www.gre.org). Each school has it's own minimum requirements. 3. If your TOEFL isn't high enough - go to an English (ESL) school. If it's hard to get a student visa from Morocco, we suggest applying for a college ESL program. You have to show that you are planning to attend the college after your ESL program finished, that way it's easier to get a visa. You can also come to the US as a tourist and find an ESL school - you are practically guaranteed to get a student status. 4. After you are admitted to your school (the admission process takes about one year), get an I-20 form from them and apply for a visa. You will also have to present aproof of finances and some proof of ties to your home country. Yo'll have to show that you or your sponsor (who should give you an affidavit of support, it could be anyone, preferably in your country) have enough money to pay for school - starting at $15,000 or so. You can also find a lawyer or a consulting company who'll be your sponsor for a fee. 5. We can't give you an estimate of how much it's going to cost. The worst colleges (public) start at $5,000-8,000 a year. You don't want to know how much the best cost. Heres's a site that has a table of expenses: http://www.studyusa.com/articles/costs.htm. This is not a legal advice, we just trying to help you out. We'll post a copy of this letter to our message board. |
