pardon me for my ignorance, but what ACTUALLY is an illegal alien?
a)someone who crossed the border into america without going through immigration checkpoint? b)someone who went to the usa with a tourist visa and overstayed c)or what? |

I suppose the term is used somewhat loosely. Your example "a" might also be called an undocumented alien, though "illegal alien" would seem to fit.
Example "b" is often referred to as an "overstay," though this would also fall under the general category of "illegal alien," in that the person is out-of-status once their I-94 has expired. Any illegal employment would put one in that same general category. |
