Please, if you have some experience on
applying for a new F-1 visa being on practical training, share it with me. - Is it really hard to get a new visa stamp being on this status? - What is the list of documents one should have to apply for a visa? I am planning to submit valid I-20, Copy of my old visa, EAD car, job offer in the field of study. Is it enough? Thanks. |

In case you are asking on applying from abroad you certainly may have problems, depends on where you're from and how much money you can show. It's definitely not recommended to leave the country on OPT if your visa have expired. I would say you need a job offer from your home country after you complete your OPT. And other proof of ties to your country - if it's a poor country you probably know what I'm talking about.
Get a letter from your advisor and proof of full-time attendance, plus transcripts and so on. If you were not a full-time student at some point get an "exemption from a full course of studies" form or a letter. If you don't leave the country and would like to continue studies you don't need to apply for a new visa. You just go through a transfer procedure with the student advisors in both schools and that's it. You get a new I-20. They notify INS about it and it's like any other transfer - INS doesn't mind. |
