I was working in NJ till last week on H1-B visa, but unfortunatey my emploter layed off a whole bunch of people and I was one of them. My H1 is valid for six more weeks - just want to check if I can go back to school for my masters and get F1 visa.
Also what's the procedure. |

Sure it's possible but can you be accepted to a MA program in six weeks? If you can be accepted, you'll need an I-20 from the school and a completed I-539, which you can download from INS forms site http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/index.htm. Instructions and fees are on the form.
It's probably better to simply go home until you're accepted and come back. If you wait for a change of status, you can't leave the country until it's been approved which could be over 15 months. Good luck. |
