Hello,
I came to the USA in June 2001 on a J-1 Visa as an Aupair. I applied now for a student visa. My J-Visa expired in the middle of June 2002 and I have to leave in the middle of July. I filled out a change of status/extension of stay form. My question is if I have to leave or if I can stay until I hear from the INS if I'll receive a student visa or not. I was told by the college staff where I applied that I can stay even after the middle of July. Do I get a temporary visa until the INS finally decided on my application or what is the normal way in this case? Is it legal to stay until I hear from the INS or not? What will happen if I stay? I need to know if I have to book a flight for the middle of July or not. Please, I'd appreciate it if someone could get back to me as soon as possible. Another question: Is it allowed to babysit while you're here on a student visa? Thank you very much for your help! Sincerely Shevone |
