Hi, there
I'm a f1 student in US just graduated and applied for OPT. I'm still waiting for OPT. My husband is going school(graduate school) with F2 visa. Now he is going to Mexico to get F1 visa. Since we don't have enough money to cover the expense on his I-20. He has his cousin put his name as financial sponsor. His cousin is green card holder. I have a job offer already. Is it helpful to take my offer letter with him to get the visa? or maybe worse? Should he bring his monthly statement from band to prove he has some money also? Is there any problem he need to be prepared? Is it easy to change from F2 to F1 in Mexico lately? |

Your husband doesn't need to leave the U.S. in order to
gain F-1 status. He could just apply for a change of visa category. If at some future time he needs to leave the U.S. and wants to return to continue his studies, then he'd have to apply for an F-1 entry visa at that time. The documents you described don't present a problem to my thinking. For the change of visa classification you'll need some kind of financial proof, so these would be fine, I believe. |
