Legally you can work on-campus up to 20 hours per week while a full-time student; and you can work on-campus full-time during your school's vacation periods. After one academic year (from your entry to the U.S.)you could apply for an off-campus work permit. See your int'l. student advisor about which type of work permit to apply for (Curricular Practical Training, Optional Practical Training, or a work permit based on severe economic need).
You'll also need to apply for a social security card. Your advisor should be able to help you with that too. |
