Hi Everybody:
I just want to know if the F-1 nonimmigrant visa allows me to apply for California residency if I stay here for more than one year. It's for tuition purposes. I've read a lot about showing evidence of your intention to remain in the same state permanently but all these won't matter at all if the visa type makes you ineligible in the first place. Thanks! |

Yes. As you know, you can not avail residency for tuition if you have F-1 visa. |

Something I wrote couple of months ago:
"At least in NJ international students can get a resident tuition in public schools if they have a resident sponsor. The sponsor must be an american citizen for more then 10 years. He has to issue an affidavit of support (notarized) stating that he's going to pay all student's expenses. It leaves a question if this sponsor has to be the original sponsor for the I-20. " So far noone confirmed this I think. The girl who told me that was confident every state has similar regulations. |
